Meet Margaret, the Magpie Puppet. Magpie’s live in temperature forest all over Australia and are known for their intelligence, love of food and swooping habits during breeding season. They make their nests in tree branches and will chase away anyone that threatens their nest by swooping. Magpies have shown the ability to make and use tools, imitate human speech, grieve, play games, and work in teams. They are particularly well known for their lovely songs.
Margaret is a smart bird who knows how to do lots of things. However, sometimes she can be a little bossy. She can be used as a tool to engage with others. Conversation between a third party and children can sometimes be less intimidating than discussion between and adult and child. Creating her character and having talks about how she feels and what she likes and doesn’t like and who she likes to play with, and how she sometimes struggles making friends, or can’t sit still etc can make her relatable in the emotional situations children find themselves in.
She is quite realistic to look at and is lovely and soft to touch.
