Meet Keith, the Kookaburra Puppet by Hansa. Now Keith likes to say that he was named after his favourite country singer, Keith Urban. But he can’t sing in tune so his other Kookaburra friends love having a laugh at him when he belts out “Somebody Like You”. He even likes to call himself “Keith Suburban, City Singer”. Dream on, Keith.
Kookaburra’s are loud and raucous and live in temperate forests across Australia. They are extremely intelligent and love a free feed when they can get one (personal experience). They eat worms, grubs, lizards, snakes and lots of other forms of protein. Their loud laugh is a territorial warning as well as a means of communicating with each other. Kevin is very loud and “out there” and sometimes needs to be pulled back into line when he gets a bit too excited. He loves being at the centre of mischief and has lots of energy to burn.
Puppets can be used as a tool to engage with others. Conversation between a third party and children can sometimes be less intimidating than discussion between and adult and child. Creating his character and having talks about how he feels and what he likes and doesn’t like and who he likes to play with, and how he sometimes struggles making friends, or can’t sit still etc can make him relatable in the emotional situations children find themselves in.
He is quite realistic to look at and is lovely and soft to touch.
